The Salt Pond Visitor Center is Cape Cod National Seashore's main
visitor facility, with frequent orientation movies, a well stocked
bookstore, a comprehensive museum, and restroom facilities. The
indoor theatre routinely offers 5 short films daily on a rotating
schedule. Offering breathtaking views of Nauset Marsh and the Atlantic
beyond, this Visitor Center is also convenient to the popular 1.5
mile Nauset Marsh Trail and the Buttonbush Trail, a .25 mile multi-sensory
trail that featuring a guide rope and text panels printed in large
lettering and Braille, and the Nauset Bicycle Trails.
The museum collection at Salt Pond reflects the vast range of natural
and cultural themes represented on Cape Cod. Quotes highlight themes
that the museum's exhibits encompass, along with artwork from prominent
artists. In the atrium, the museum offers highlights of the Cape's
complex natural composition. Realistic models of native plants
and mounted animal specimens emphasize the rich and diverse natural
history of the Outer Cape. Displays cover salt marsh plants and
animals, beach dynamics, upland plant communities and prominent
residential and migratory birds.
Salt Pond Visitor Center is located at the corner of Nauset Road
and Route 6 in Eastham. Hours: daily 9 AM to 4:30 PM (increased

Sands of Time:
Sands of Time tells about the formation of Cape Cod by the ice,
wind, and waves, and describes the processes that continue to
shape the Cape today. Approx. 12 minutes
Wooden Ships and Men of Iron:
This film depicts Cape Cod’s fascinating maritime history,
including whaling and the lifesaving service. It contains historical
footage taken aboard one of the last of the whaling ships. Approx.
12 minutes
Thoreau’s Cape Cod:
Thoreau’s Cape Cod is the story of Henry David Thoreau’s
19th century adventures, discoveries, and writings on Cape Cod.

Voice of Cape Cod:
Voice of Cape Cod tells about Guglielmo Marconi’s history-making
transatlantic wireless communication that took place on the windswept
bluffs of Cape Cod in January 1903, forever changing communications

A Revolutionary Idea focuses on the National Parks of Massachusetts.
The film centers on park sites rich with our country’s cultural
heritage. Approx. 20 minutes
The Province Lands Visitor Center is located on
Race Point Road, off Route 6, at the northern end of Cape Cod National
Seashore, approximately one mile from Provincetown. It is open
daily from May 1 through October 31st from 9 AM to 5 PM. (508)

The observation deck at this Visitor Center provides a 360-degree
view of the Province Lands dunes, the Outer Beach and the Atlantic
Ocean. From this location you can see Race Point Ranger Station,
Race Point Beach, the Old Harbor Life-Saving Station and the
Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown. Exhibits about local plants
and animals and the Pilgrim's landing in Provincetown are featured.

toys and gifts all related to some aspect of Cape Cod and the National

Wellfleet Bay’s 1,100 acres of salt marsh, sandy beach,
pine woodland, freshwater pond, and rare heathland attract a wide
array of wildlife, especially songbirds and shorebirds. Discover
the true nature of Cape Cod as you amble along the five miles of
trails that traverse these habitats.
The scenic trails are complemented by the Nature Center’s
green architecture, our friendly volunteers, and a beautiful butterfly
and hummingbird garden.
A
variety of educational programs for children and adults,
including walks, workshops, and cruises, are offered both on
the sanctuary and at other pristine locations on Cape Cod. Enjoy
a naturalist-led bird walk on our property or listen to an evening
lecture. Participate in hands-on activities aboard our Cape Cod
Bay Marine Life Cruise for families. Observe seals, shorebirds
and other wildlife on guided tours of Monomoy National Wildlife
Refuge and the Cape Cod National Seashore. This sanctuary has
the following universally accessible facilities: Nature Center,
Trails, All Persons Trail to Goose Pond, Seasonal Classroom,
Gardens, Campground.
Enjoy learning in the beautiful coastal setting of Cape Cod.
Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary offers a wide variety
of field courses for adults which focus on the unique coastal environment
and wildlife of Cape Cod. Field Schools emphasize active outdoor "in-the-field" experiences
and are taught by professional naturalists and scientists.
Coastal Ecology by Kayak, Shorebirds of Cape Cod, Salt Marsh & Shoreline
Botany, and the Art of Nature Sketching are just a few examples
of our more popular topics. Courses are either 2 or 4 days in length
providing just enough time to immerse you in the subject.
The beaches, woods, dunes, and wetlands of the 43,000-acre Cape
Cod National Seashore, the 1,000-acre Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary,
the wilderness islands of Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, and
the waters of Cape Cod will provide the setting for the courses.
Previous experience is not required-just an inquisitive mind and
an eagerness to learn!
